Interest Area 2

Researching: minimalism, post minimalism, process art, arte, and povera.

Anne Truitt did minimalistic art and I really dont like this piece, I guess Im not a big fan of minimalism. It just seems like to me that anyone can do this, I know it was made in the late 70's and it was probably some big thing back in those days but now it just doesn't strike my interest.

RICHARD SERRA
Blind Spot (2002-2003)
Weatherproof steel
Richard Serra came up as a post-minimalist artist on google and I have to say that I like this artwork more than minimalism art pieces and I think the reason why I like it more is because well I know that probably not a lot of people would be able to come up with something like this and then create it out of metal whereas anyone could get a 2x4 piece of plywood and put it somewhere and call it art...

Bruce Nauman, Human/Need/Desire, 1983
Bruce Nauman is a process art artist and I like this piece because it deals with words and lights and is very bright. It is a very interesting piece to me since I have never seen it before.

Giovanni Anselmo "Torsion" 1968

Giovanni's Torsion is a very interesting piece, made of leather, cement and wood I cant figure this out, but then again maybe I am thinking to much about it and wanting to make it something. Im not exactly sure if I like this piece or not.

Interest Area 1

The interest area homework between Collage and Assemblage

Lance Letscher, 'Black Eye'

Kurt Schwitters 'Kots'

Kleine Dada Soirée
Kurt Schwitters & Theo Van Doesburg
I really like these pieces because they are collage work and Im finding that I really like doing collage and looking at collage pieces that include lettering or old articles and pictures, I want to take written pieces of paper and create art on top of them.

Robert Rauschenberg
Retroactive I
I dont like this piece as much as I do the collage work and Im not sure exactly why either, it doesn't make me want to create art like this as much as the other artworks I posted do.

American Cardboard Idol

So today we American Cardboard Idol and I tried to get videos of my table mates, the one I didn't get was Donovan and I got Kevin's starfish because it was funny, he was a brave person to work that long and then smash his artwork.

Megan and her doornob hat.
Donovan and his lighter.

Our panel of Judges : Valerie, Tony, and Kathy

Brandon and his magnolia seed.

Emily and her acorn hat.

Proposals to the finished Product

Everyone had to pick random stuff out of a box and I was given a hook with a suction cup on it. The objective was to create something using this object that wasn't it but still looked or functioned like it.
The object I picked out of a box.

1st proposal is a jetpack which was the one people chose.

2nd proposal was to create 2 suction cups and act like a spy crawling up the wall.

3rd proposal was to create a futuristic gun.
Pictures of the finished piece below.
