Dot thumbnails and meaning crit

My 30 thumbnail sketches
Today is the second day of Wash and I must say it wasn't that bad, today in 2D class we first looked at our 30 thumbnail sketches of dots based on Gestalt principles similarity, continuance and proximity. Then we did mini critiques about everyones who sit at our table. Having other people look at your work and give you a critique about it does open up your mind and help you notice things that you wouldn't normally notice. Today we observed our habits that we use to solve problems, mine were that my dots tend to hug the corners; some of the dots, depending on the category, were very similar in size; I apparently like lines because of the way I arrange the dots in the thumbnail; I tend to have the dots all spaced out the same; the way I color my dots have a streaky-ness to them. I have to admit I didn't realize I did those things until this critique.

Kathy talking about the spheres.
In 3D class this afternoon we all looked at everyones spheres that were due today, looking at everyones it is pretty interesting to see how each and every person has a different approach to creating the spheres. After this critique we were given instruction and started working on our newest project that involves a small random object that we must make out of cardboard 2ft to 3ft tall and it must be wearable. Now onto making 6x6 in squares and filling them with dots.

The structural section of the spheres, glue could be used.

The section of spheres that focused on just the outside. Glue could be used.

All the spheres made with just cardboard. No glue or adhesive.
