Story line crit

Final mark making piece
critique by Hannah E.

My notes from the critique
So hannah understood my piece a little better than the people I was in the group critique with and I really liked the things that she said, yes she critiqued and discussed some flaws and pointed out what could've been done and after reading her notes I understand more about how I would make my piece better. I got alot out of the group critique as well like at first they thought it was about a nightmare, which since the piece is about what could be on the other side that deals with consequences of your actions then a nightmare could be the consequence. The one thing that was liked the most about my project was the brick wall and I do admit I am proud of it because I liked working on making the bricks by using a wood burning kit to melt the styrofoam and then painting it and finally piecing it together. The little things that didn't work well but looked like a different piece was the actual mark making that went around the brick wall. The purpose of the marks and the way I cut them out was to imitate fingers and have it look like something was peering over the wall and trying to grab you. Some of the tacks I used to hold up the paper was a little distracting even though they were clear. Also one suggestion to make it better was the get a bigger lamp so it didn't look so small compared to the brick wall. Another suggestion was to put the  piece up in a small area also that is completely dark and then hand the light to someone and tell them to walk and find the wall and see if they even want to go further or just get away from the wall. Over all I got alot out of this piece and I understand and get the stuff that people suggest on how to make my piece better.

Photo Lecture Assignment

This is an important photo to me because to me family is very important and when we all get together we this is pretty much how we act. One day my cousins, aunt and my mom and I were all in the bathroom and we started to discuss why some people take bathroom photos and how we think it is ignorant sometimes so we decided to create this awesome shot with all of us doing something retarded. I love this photo because I love the fact that I can have a great time with my family and all we have to do is act ourselves. I will definitely be remembering this photo in 10 years and I hope we get many more like this in years to come.

This was a very special moment for me, this is me and Jason on my 22nd birthday and I have never had someone I care about celebrate my birthday with my family and I and it really meant alot to me. My mom had the camera and was taking photos of the whole thing where the El Chico staff made me stand on a chair and wear the funny sombrero while everyone in the restaurant including my mom, dad, Logan and Jason all sang happy birthday. I know that some people get all excited over big stuff but to me its the little things that make me the happiest at times, and this little celebration I will always remember especially when my brother asked if I was gonna eat the rest of my sopapillia!

So I absolutely adore this time of pinup photos because they are suggestive but dont go all the way to showing everything. I dont personally know the photographer, all I know of them is that they have a facebook page that shows all their work and I love to view their pictures. I dont know the girl in the picture either but I do love this picture and if I were to do a photo shoot I would do pictures similar to this.

Metaphor Proposal 3

So there have been many times when I've thought that time was fragile and that you should take it as a blessing that your here on earth every single day. My cousin whom I'm very close to was diagnosed with a brain tumor and there were times when we weren't sure she would make it, especially during the surgery and also we were scared that the tumor would always come back. Now that she is in remission and has been for a while now we got word that my other cousin was going to have to have surgery because he had a brain bleed and we were worried they were gonna have to do multiple surgeries.
The metaphor is time is fragile because it really is, you don't know when you are going to leave this earth.
The way I would create this is to have a watch, one that looks very dainty and fragile and then try to have pieces fall off indicating that time is indeed fragile.

Metaphor Proposal 2

One of the things that I love to do is read because I have a great experience when I was taught to read by my mother, it's one of the things that she loves to do and she wanted to pass down what she loved to me when I was little. I love to read because its a place for me to get away from the real world and I always end up getting sucked into the book and it feels like I'm really there in the story.
The metaphor is getting sucked into a book, and I am thinking about making this by having a book laying on a pedestal with vortex of images from books coming out of the book and a hand coming through the vortex reaching out and grabbing the viewer wanting to pull them into the book.

Metaphor Proposal 1

Im a big believer in Christ and I know that I sin everyday and well I remember this one time at church I was sitting in the pew paying attention to the preacher when he said this to everyone, "We are soldiers for Christ and we're in a religion war." Well that perked my ears ups because in the bible it states that Jesus wants us to forgive and be peaceful about things, I thought well if he wants us to be peaceful and forgiving then why is my preacher telling me that I'm a soldier and that I'm in a war for religion? In todays society you mostly associate soldier and war with violence and guns, whereas Jesus wants us to fight using peace.
My metaphor is being a soldier in a religious war and he way I would create this would be to create a weapon and incorporate wings and a bible in the mix somehow.
